"A Celebration Of The American Can-Do Spirit!" -David Ansen, Newsweek
Gene Hackman and Owen Wilson score "a solid victory" (Time Magazine) in this high flying action thriller filled with explosive action at every turn.
The war was supposed to be over, but the battle to survive has just begun. When U.S. Navy pilot Chris Burnett (Wilson) is shot down during a recon mission over Bosnia, he must fight to stay alive and evade hostile Serbian forces. With time running out, Burnett's commanding officer (Hackman) risks everything by launching a renegade rescue mission -- against strict NATO directives -- to bring an American hero home.

Excellent film for the times - 4.75 out of 5 (3/31/2002)
I had reservations about BEHIND ENEMY LINES. Chief among them was the fact that I could not see Owen Wilson in an action adventure film and following right behind that is the fact that I had seen Gene Hackman play the military workhorse one time too many.
But after having seen it, I can say that both those fears have been allayed. Owen Wilson does a very capable job with handling the chief role of a Navy Navigator who gets trapped behind enemy lines, and Gene Hackman does his usual good job

A KICK-ASS RIDE W/ A MORE THAN CAPABLE ACTION HERO - 4.75 out of 5 (8/8/2002)
I dont care what the critics say, if you want an adrenaline rush, see this movie. The long time legend Gene Hackman and new sensation Owen Wilson combination really works here, and the action is spectacularly handled by first time director John Moore. DVD looks and sounds great, w/ some nice extras to accompany the film. Look at the original opening sequence, the music track here is one of my favorites. Also, try out the deleted scenes, w/ those in the film would have easily gotten an R rating.
